Not Anxiety; Now Joy
Philippians 4:2-13; 21-23

Father

Give us hearts of unity.
May we choose joy in you.
May we live as if you are at hand,
conscious of your presence and your coming.
May we not be anxious.
May we instead choose prayer, supplication and thanksgiving.
Enjoying your peace and guardianship.
May we think truth, honour justice and seek purity.
May we think lovely, commendable and excellent
May we be full of praise
And may we enjoy your peace, reveling in your grace forever.

Lighthouse
Philippians 2:12-18 

Father, enable us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling,
Knowing that you work in us for your good pleasure.
Keep our mouths free from grumbling and questioning.
Make us to be blameless, innocent and without blemish.
As we remember that we are children of God,
Shining light into this dark world.
Keep us holding fast to the word of life.
Holding out the word of life.
Straining to the day of Christ
Rejoicing in our salvation.
Amen

 

Fullness Ephesians 5:15-20

Father of fullness,

Make us careful in how we live.

Make us wise not foolish,

Redeeming the time,

Recognising that the days are evil.

May we know your will,

Be filled with the Holy Spirit,

May your word overflow from our hearts into our mouths and our lives.

May we sing of your greatness and your salvation.

Filled with gratitude for everything,

In the name of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

A  prayer in gratitude for Christ

Father you have granted to us the greatest of privileges

We  are brothers and sisters of Jesus

Not because of our goodness but because of your mercy

Thank You

You know that we love you because of what you have done

But our love is shallow and often cold

Warm us

Change us

And grow us that we might be more like our brother and our saviour

Fill us with the fruit of goodness

Make us merciful amidst selfishness

Joyful in a world of misery

Grateful in a world of grumbling

Peaceful in a world of striving

Patient in a world of anger

May we be kind with the hurting

Gentle with the weeping

Faithful in commitment and friendship

And self controlled in the midst of licence

Forgive us for the times when we are more like Satan than Jesus

For the times when we secretly tolerate lust and idolatry.

Forgive us that we succumb to the lure of wealth and the comforts of ease

Forgive us a lack of courage to stand for good and speak prophetically to our friends.

Forgive us where we have tolerated racism and allowed ourselves to scorn the poor

Forgive us and have mercy on us

That we might be more like our brother the Lord Jesus Christ
