John 2:1-11 - When you need Blessing

Our loving heavenly Father
You have raised up the house that has fallen
So that we may possess the eternal land as you have promised.
We long for the day when the mountains will drip sweet wine,
and the hills shall flow with it.
When you restore the fortunes of Israel
When the ruined cities are rebuilt and inhabited
When abundance flows
And when we are finally planted in the land
As you have promised.
Thank you that your Messiah king shows us that this day is sure
We trust him and long for the fulfilment of your promises
Amen
 

 

Rainbows, Blessing, Covenant and God’s Comeback - Genesis 8:20-9:17

Father in heaven
You have made promises to us.
And you have done this knowing that the intentions of our hearts are evil.
We are amazed at your grace.
Forgive us that we do not value human life highly.
Forgive us that we do not believe that you will keep your covenant promises to us.
Put our eyes on the rainbow
And the sparrow
And the lilies
And the clouds
And the cross.
Help us to remember and live knowing that you are committed to us, that your Son has come and that your Son is coming soon.

Who am I?

 

Genesis 2:4-17

Father you have made us.
From the dust of the ground
You have breathed life into us.
You have made us for life
And blessing in abundance.
You have made us to hear and obey your word.
You have made us for yourself.
We praise you
That we are fearfully and wonderfully made,
That we are treasured and known.
And we long for the renewed life that your Son has brought to us
Not in the garden but in the city.

Psalm 72

Our Father,
O give us a king who will judge with righteousness and justice.
May he defend the poor and the needy.
May he crush the oppressor.
May he redeem his people.
May he be a blessing like soft rain.
May he enable the righteous to flourish.
May make peace to abound.
May he rule over all the world.
May his name endure forever and his fame be eternal.
And may blessing abound to all peoples through him.
 
Our Father,
You have given us a king that did not elevate himself but has instead come down.
He did not grasp at equality with you.
He made himself nothing.
He took on the form of a slave.
He submitted himself to death.
Even death on a cross.
He is our king.
We worship him!

Day by day God is working his plan - Genesis 24

Father as we see your hand at work moving history towards your purposes.

We confess that

we are working for our own glory

we seek our own desires

we want our own way;

Little realising that the joy we seek is not found there.

As you show us your hand at work

Give us confidence in your plan

Help us to trust your love towards us

May we align our lives in accordance with truth

And in so doing experience your joy and peace.

May our strivings cease, and our confidence and trust in you grow ever stronger.

May our agendas pale and wane as we are increasingly give ourselves to your kingdom and your glory.

We pray for Jesus sake

Blessed not Rejected

Genesis 12:1-20; Hebrews 11:8-12                   

Father, you speak!

And blessing follows.

You have blessed a world of mayhem;

When what we deserved is destruction.

You are blessing a people for all eternity.

You have chosen us, anointed us, sanctified us, adopted us,

And poured your mercy upon us.

And soon you will glorify those you have blessed.

That we might proclaim your glory for all eternity.

Deuteronomy 8:1-20

Father of blessings,

Give us the blessing of memory,

And wills of obedience.

Make us humble.

May we pass the test of adversity with hope.

May we dwell in your Word and fearfully walk in your ways.

May we pass the test of blessing with gratitude, never forgetting you.

Keep us from forgetful pride.

Keep us radically obedient.

Keep us following every command,

Always seeing your hand in our blessing,

And your faithfulness to your promises.

Deuteronomy 4:44-5:6

Father, thank you that you have made a promise to us.

You have spoken by your Son.

You have pledged to be our God.

Though we are a wicked and rebellious people;

So that today we can say you are our God and we are your people!

We are chosen

We belong.

We are royal.

We are included.

We are blessed.

We are heirs

We are holy.

Psalm 3

Our Father,

You did not deliver Jesus so that you might deliver us

You are our shield and our protector.

You hear our prayers.

We rest because you sustain us.

We are unafraid because you surround us.

We ask for you to arise and destroy your enemies.

May your blessing be upon your people

Amen

Easter Blessing

May God the Father, who raised Christ from the dead, open to us the gates of everlasting life.

May God the Son, who in bursting from the grave won a glorious victory, give us joy as we share the Easter faith.

May God the Holy Spirit, who filled the disciples with the life of the risen Lord, empower us for witness and fill us with the peace of God.

May the rule of God the Trinity remind us not to be afraid but instead to go and live in peace rejoicing that Jesus Christ is risen.
